Concertare: Music by Handel, Vivaldi, Telemann, and dall’Abaco
Our spectacular season opens with an eagerly anticipated BEMF début by the world-renowned chamber ensemble, Concerto Köln. Founded in 1985 by a group of conservatory graduates from all over Europe, the fourteen artists of Concerto Köln have impressed critics and audiences alike with their enthusiastic and energetic performances. Operating without a permanent conductor, each member of the ensemble contributes artistic ideas to this true cooperative collaboration, or concertare. They have an extensive discography of over fifty recordings, and have received the Grammy Award, the Echo Klassik, the Diapason d’Or, and many other honors. For their BEMF début, Concerto Köln has created a Baroque program for strings, flutes, bassoon, and harpsichord, featuring dazzling and intimate concertos by Handel, Vivaldi, Telemann, and dall’Abaco.
