Love is Better than Wine: Music for the Holiday Season by Vivanco, Lassus, Pärt, and Praetorius

The globally revered a cappella vocal ensemble The Tallis Scholars, directed by Peter Phillips, presents a truly sublime holiday program for their 24th annual appearance on the BEMF Concert Series. This program features Vivanco’s brilliant Magnificat, an unforgettable setting of Osculetur me by Lassus, and an exploration of the music of contemporary composer Arvo Pärt, whose intense study of early European polyphony informs compositions of transcendent purity. The glorious celebration of Christmastime will conclude with a second setting of the Magnificat, this one by Praetorius, who published his masterpiece with two famous Christmas carols, In dulci jubilo and Joseph lieber, interleaved between its verses. Lauded for their impeccable intonation and expressive performances, the incomparable Tallis Scholars are in extraordinary demand. Don’t delay; order your tickets today to one of the most popular events of the holiday season.
