Bernardo Pasquini’s 1687 oratorio, Il San Vito
Since 2006, Alessandro Quarta and Concerto Romano have been dedicated to reviving forgotten masterworks from the city of Rome, bringing their uniquely Italian perspective to the awe-inspiring music of this timeless city. For their BEMF début, they bring the modern-day premiere of Bernardo Pasquini’s 1687 oratorio, Il San Vito. One of the most famous keyboard virtuosos of his day, Pasquini won equal fame as a composer of vocal music, though much has been lost to history. Experience the transcendent beauty of this magnificent oratorio written to venerate the martyrdom of Saint Vitus of Sicily. Join us at 4pm for a Pre-Concert Talk with Professor Ellen T. Harris.
