Criminals, Murderers, Borderliners: Music by Leclair, Veracini, Mealli, and Bach
Some of our greatest composers haven’t always come from the right side of the tracks. J. S. Bach served time in prison, Giovanni Antonio Pandolfi Mealli fled into exile after murdering a castrato, Jean-Marie Leclair was stabbed to death on his doorstep, and Francesco Maria Veracini broke a leg throwing himself out a window! Visit these musical lives on the borderline in this fascinating BEMF-début program from the duo of Stefan Temmingh and Wiebke Weidanz. Temmingh has won awards and acclaim for his powerful and expressive performances, and Weidanz is a frequent collaborator of his who has herself earned praise for her refined and graceful virtuosity.
