The American Recorder Society (ARS) is proud to be part of the 2021 BEMF Virtual Exhibit Booths.

For more than 80 years, the ARS has provided a vibrant, supportive community for all who value the recorder and its music.

Its members are more than 2,000 chapters, consorts, recorder orchestras, individuals, and businesses, representing a community of players throughout the U.S., Canada, and 30 countries around the world.

The recorder and its music are an integral part of the historical development of music as we currently practice it.  With a rich body of music, spanning over 700 years, the ARS carries on the legacy of the recorder by promoting it to amateurs, professionals, and youth. Recorder is a gateway to all forms of early music and to the delights of playing in social groups. The ARS embraces and supports all skill levels, from beginner to virtuoso.

We are a non-profit organization, supported by membership.  Our members are richly rewarded with an ever evolving array of benefits and opportunities to grow as a player, and revel with a global community, to celebrate the music and history of the recorder.
