A Springtime Soirée
It is with deep regret that I announce our decision to postpone the Boston Early Music Festival’s fifth biennial Springtime Soirée, scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2020, at the Mandarin Oriental in Boston. Due to escalating concerns about the coronavirus/COVID-19, my colleagues and I have reached out to members of our community and trusted medical professionals for guidance. As our event would bring together guests and artists from around the world, we believe that postponing is the responsible course of action to reduce the possibility of transmission and keep our community healthy. I am sincerely grateful to everyone—especially the BEMF Board of Directors, artists, staff, partners, and countless vendors—for donating their time and talent into creating a spectacular event which would celebrate the extraordinary leadership of Chairman Bernice K. Chen. Our Soirée will go forward at a later date to be determined.
Please understand that this decision does not reduce our need for your generous support. Postponing our Springtime Soirée will result in a considerable financial loss to BEMF, both from contributions anticipated at the event and unrecoverable expenses related to hosting the event. Kindly consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Boston Early Music Festival to ensure minimal disruption to our upcoming activities.
If you wish to make an online donation, GIVE NOW online. If you’d prefer to send us a check – payable to Boston Early Music Festival – please mail this to: BEMF, 43 Thorndike Street, Suite 302, Cambridge, MA 02141-1764. Finally, you can support BEMF via our online auction, which began earlier this month and continues through March 31 at our BiddingForGood site. A number of items there are available for immediate acquisition.
I am sincerely sorry for any inconvenience this postponement may cause and I look forward to sharing details of our rescheduled Soirée as soon as possible.
