Director of
Marketing and Publicity

The
Boston Early Music Festival—a 27-year old, non-profit
organization dedicated to the promotion and presentation
of Early Music, with offices in Kendall Square,
Cambridge, MA (www.bemf.org)—is seeking an
energetic and highly motivated professional to work in
conjunction with the BEMF Executive Director and Staff
to implement various marketing and publicity
initiatives.
The ideal candidate would have 3 to 5 years of
relevant marketing and publicity experience,
highly-developed interpersonal skills, organizational
and managerial expertise, computer literacy, excellent
writing skills, and a dedication to the performing arts
and early music.
The position requires a 40 hour per week
commitment; salary commensurate with experience. Applications

In
conjunction with the BEMF Executive Director, the
Director of Marketing and publicity would:
- Write
and disseminate press releases (printed and digital)
for annual concert series in Boston, MA and New York,
NY, biennial festivals, CDs, and other notable news
and events, contacting artists and managers for
pertinent information when
necessary;
- Maintain
updated press and colleague organization contact
lists, follow up with major newspapers, magazines, and
music writers to secure preview and review coverage of
BEMF events, and coordinate press tickets and press
packages at events;
- Develop
a comprehensive marketing campaign for the Boston
Early Music Festival and its assorted events and
projects, to include booking, writing copy for, and
overseeing the graphic design of all brochures,
postcards, posters, email announcements, and print and
radio advertisements for annual concert series,
biennial festivals, CDs, and other
events;
- Research,
launch, and oversee monthly E-Newsletter
campaign;
- Write
content for and oversee design of and updates to the
BEMF website;
- Maintain
image library and catalogue of all newspaper and
magazine articles and reviews for all BEMF events and
projects;
- Promote
annual concerts and biennial festival events through
“grass-roots” efforts (i.e. supplying brochures,
posters, and postcards to local music schools,
libraries, churches, and other concert performances,
updating various web calendars with concert
information, submitting concert info to relevant
list-servs, trading web links, “info brochure
campaign,” etc.); and
- Strengthen
current audience and cultivate new audiences through
innovative audience development initiatives.
