We are excited by the opportunity to welcome music lovers from around the world for eight days—June 6–13, 2021—to enjoy an extensive lineup of exclusive performances and free events from home, wherever that home might be. Tickets for the opera and concerts will range from $10 to $25 with additional free events and concerts planned all week long. Check out the 2021 Festival Schedule now. We look forward to welcoming you for this special event in June!

The virtual 2021 Festival replaces previously announced plans for a new production of the GRAMMY Award–winning BEMF Chamber Opera Series featuring Telemann’s Pimpinone and Hasse’s La Finta Tedesca, as well as earlier plans for a fully staged production of Desmarest’s Circé. Both productions will be rescheduled in the future.

The Operatic Centerpiece of this Virtual Festival will be our first archival video presentation of one of BEMF’s signature, fully staged Baroque opera productions. For this exciting occasion, we have selected the dazzling spectacle of our 2017 production of Campra’s Le Carnaval de Venise. Join four star-crossed lovers as they indulge in the aural and visual delights of the Carnival season, which features enchanting dances, a colorful parade of beautiful, period-inspired costumes, and magnificent sets. Accompanying this enthralling tour-de-force, our GRAMMY-winning BEMF Chamber Opera Series returns with our 2014 production of Pergolesi’s La serva padrona and Livietta e Tracollo. Humor and love abound in these delightfully witty masterpieces.

In addition to the Festival Operas, the week will boast a series of new, specially filmed and recorded concert programs from some of the world’s leading artists and ensembles. Enjoy performances from our own all-star BEMF Vocal & Chamber Ensembles, soprano Amanda Forsythe, Doulce Mémoire, ACRONYM, L’Achéron Consort, and others. LEARN MORE »

Since 1981, the heart of the Boston Early Music Festival has been our world-famous Exhibition. This year, instead of the joyful, buzzing cacophony of the Marriott ballrooms, we will make space on our website for virtual booths—a place for you to learn about some of the industry's new and leading instrument builders and service organizations and browse photos and videos of their offerings.
