2025 Festival | June 8–15, 2025
Thank you to everyone who made the 2025 Boston Early Music Festival such an extraordinary success! Enthusiastic audiences gathered in Boston for our highly anticipated 23rd weeklong biennial Festival featuring superb opera and concert performances, a buzzing Exhibition, and rave reviews.
The grand operatic centerpiece of this celebratory week—the North American premiere of Reinhard Keiser’s Octavia—was a triumph on every level! My heartfelt thanks to our spectacular directorial and design team—Artistic Directors Paul O’Dette and Stephen Stubbs, Opera Director Gilbert Blin, Orchestra Director Robert Mealy, Dance Director Marie-Nathalie Lacoursière, Choreographer Hubert Hazebroucq, Costume Designer Anna Kjellsdotter, Set Designer Alexander McCargar, and Lighting Designer Kelly Martin—as well as our outstanding company of singers, dancers, instrumentalists, Young Artists, technical and production crew, dedicated assistants, and volunteers.
Our 2025 Festival included 8 full days of remarkable offerings: 17 concerts by today’s leading early music artists; a revival of our Chamber Opera Series production of Telemann’s Pimpinone and Ino; our popular Organ and Keyboard Mini-Festivals; the incomparable Exhibition; Performance Masterclasses; fascinating Public Symposia; Dance Workshops; dozens of Fringe Concerts; a very special performance by the BEMF Youth Ensemble and many other young students in conjunction with our BEMF Beyond Borders program; and so much more. Altogether, an eloquent tribute to our field, including all of you, who—we never forget—are what truly make BEMF “the most important and influential Early Music event in the world” (BBC Radio 3).
As you have heard so many times, ticket sales cover only a fraction of the expenses required to mount such a substantial and world-class event. We simply could not undertake these biennial celebrations—or the historic productions and unforgettable concerts they include—without the generous support of our many devoted friends and fans from all over the world.
If you appreciate and value the Boston Early Music Festival, please consider making a contribution at BEMF.org or by mailing a check—payable to Boston Early Music Festival—to 43 Thorndike Street, Suite 302, Cambridge, MA 02141. If you have already supported our remarkable work this year, please accept my heartfelt thanks for your loyal and thoughtful generosity.
Save the dates our 24th biennial Festival—June 6–13, 2027!
