The Boston Early Music Festival (BEMF) is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the full-time position of Patron Services & Advertising Associate. Reporting to the BEMF Executive Director, the Patron Services & Advertising Associate will have a twofold responsibility, working closely with the Box Office and Patron Services Manager to provide friendly, prompt, and superlative service to BEMF patrons, and taking charge of the campaign to solicit advertisers for our Annual Series program books and biennial Festival commemorative Program Book. Additional administrative tasks and production responsibilities will be determined as needed and as we learn the new employee’s strengths. Primary responsibilities will include:
Patron Services
- Assisting the Box Office and Patron Services Manager with processing telephone and online ticket orders using Patron Manager software, and with ticket sales and front-of-house operations at all in person concerts and events
- Compiling and analyzing patron ticketing trends; preparing specialized daily reports related to revenue from ticket sales and contributions
- Assisting the Box Office and Patron Services Manager with patron support for virtual events
- Expanding audience outreach by leveraging opportunities for student, senior, and group sales
- Cultivating audience relationships via post-concert communications and other means
Advertising Associate
- Soliciting advertisers for the Annual Series programs and the biennial Festival Program Book
- Maintaining clear records of solicitations, agreements, and ads
- Following up with advertisers to ensure delivery of advertising materials and payment
- Coordinate incoming and outgoing ads with the Director of Marketing
Examples of Administrative Tasks and Production Responsibilities
- Assisting BEMF staff with document filing, mailings, bank deposits, and more
- Managing the dormitory application campaign for biennial Festival Guest housing
- Assisting the General Manager and Publications Editor with program book editing and proofreading
- Supporting the Operations Manager with musical editions and scores, artist rehearsal scheduling, instrument cartage, and more
- Creating and maintaining a mailing list of college and university music department libraries for the dissemination of Festival Program Books
- Database management: updating BEMF customer, donor, and press mailing lists

Qualifications
The ideal candidate would have:
- strong experience in arts administration and/or customer service
- excellent interpersonal skills in person and by telephone
- the ability to work under pressure and to think quickly
- the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- an aptitude for learning data management systems
- a dedication to the performing arts
Familiarity with Patron Manager software, a driver’s license, and the ability to lift at least 40 pounds are preferred, but not required.
The successful candidate will be required to attend all BEMF concerts and events, including annually on Thanksgiving weekend. The 8-day biennial Festival takes place in June of odd numbered years and requires intensive hours each day for the duration.
General Information
At present, BEMF employees work primarily from home, with office-time arranged on an ad-hoc basis. Biweekly Staff Meetings are held in person at the BEMF office and on Zoom.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $63,000
