Ad Astra: Music of Valentini, Bertali, Schmelzer, Rosenmüller, and others | Baroque band ACRONYM has earned a reputation for fearless performances crackling with enthusiasm and joyous camaraderie with a roster of some of the finest young instrumentalists in North America. The return to BEMF to close out the 2021 Festival with a program inspired by the explosion of cultural activity following the end of the Thirty Years War in 1648. Decades of death and stagnation gave way to a renewed energy as musicians and institutions resumed performing and traveling. Enjoy exuberant compositions by Valentini, Bertali, Schmelzer, Rosenmüller, an “anonymous eunuch,” and others that reflect the cultural exchange that flowered in the decades following crisis.
