Sebastiani’s Matthäus Passion
GRAMMY-winning Musical Directors Paul O'Dette and Stephen Stubbs lead Johann Sebastiani's sublime and deeply moving masterpiece in a brand new recording from the BEMF Vocal & Chamber Ensembles on the CPO label. Originally presented by BEMF on Good Friday, 2014, this exquisite, early setting of the St. Matthew Passion is lushly scored for six voices, six strings, and continuo and BEMF was praised for its "polished and lovingly executed performance" by The Boston Globe after the 2014 concert.
"The vocalists and chamber ensemble of the Boston Early Music Festival give a dedicated and skilful performance of this very interesting work."
