Telemann: Ino & Opera Arias for Soprano

Explore the depth and scope of Telemann’s genius with a thrilling cantata Ino with a story drawn from Ovid’s Metamorphoses. Written late in Telemann’s life, this miniature masterpiece is a bridge between the Baroque and Classical eras, full of scintillating theatrics and show-stopping virtuosity.

Recorded in Bremen with Musical Directors Paul O'Dette and Stephen Stubbs and Orchestra Director Robert Mealy, the cantata was originally presented in Boston in a staged performance in 2021 and will be reprised at the June 2025 Festival. Beloved soprano Amanda Forsythe stars in the title role of a desperate mother trying to save herself and her child from her husband has been driven into madness. Telemann's score is the product of decades of musical genius and vividly retells Ino's harried flight.
